Pattern Making Basics: Create a Custom Skirt Pattern

Learn the foundations of fashion pattern in this beginner-friendly workshop. You’ll learn how professional designers create the templates used to make garments by using your measurements to draft a basic skirt pattern (often called a “sloper” or “block”) that can be used as the starting point for countless future skirt designs. These slopers are made from poster board and are reusable!

We’ll cover:

• Taking accurate body measurements
• Understanding basic pattern-making terminology
• Drafting a custom-fit skirt sloper
• How to use your sloper as a starting point for future designs

By the end of class, you’ll leave with a reusable custom skirt sloper and the knowledge needed to begin exploring garment pattern making on your own.
